The Winter Trap: Putin’s War Plan and Trump’s Role in Bringing Ukraine to Its Knees
A coordinated strategy — bomb the grid, freeze the people, then send Trump to “broker peace” by forcing Ukraine to surrender.
It began again last night, the familiar drone sirens that Ukrainians have learned to live with as part of daily life. From 19:00 until dawn, Russia launched 59 Shahed drones and their decoys from Kursk, Shatalovo, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk. Ukraine’s defenders fought through the night. Forty-seven were destroyed or suppressed. But twelve drones still found their mark, striking nine locations, piercing through the defenses, reminding us that no matter how strong the shield, some arrows always slip through.
On the surface, this was just another night of terror in a war that has already stretched for years. But beneath the surface, my sources confirm something darker: a much larger operation now fully prepared and ready to launch by mid-September.
Unlike the earlier campaigns of 2022 and 2023, this time Russia’s plan is not to pressure or intimidate. This time it is all about destruction. They are planning on bombing power plants to silence electricity at the source. They want to reduce substations and distribution hubs to rubble, leaving homes and hospitals powerless. They want to destroy the gas compressor stations, cutting off the pipelines that heat Ukraine in the bitter winter. They want to hit storage facilities, erasing reserves before they can even be tapped.
And then comes the second layer: the pressure campaign. Once Ukraine is paralyzed in the cold and darkness, Putin will send in Donald Trump to force a ceasefire — to pressure Ukraine into accepting whatever terms the Russians are offering. But as we know, Ukraine cannot accept those terms. Doing so would mark the end of Ukraine itself. It would only be a matter of time.
This is how the pressure campaign is designed to unfold:
Take as much land as possible now, while Ukraine’s defenses are strained.
Freeze the front lines under a “ceasefire” so Russia can regroup and rearm without losing territory.
Force Zelensky into holding an election under conditions where millions are displaced, infrastructure is shattered, and Russian propaganda can infiltrate freely.
Undermine Ukraine’s government from within, paving the way for a pro-Moscow regime to rise.
Complete the takeover later, once the world has turned its attention elsewhere and Ukraine’s ability to resist has collapsed.
This will be the strongest pressure campaign we have seen yet.
I know this playbook because I was once part of it. In 2019, Donald Trump sent me to Ukraine to deliver messages meant to pressure President Zelensky. I was born in the Soviet Union. I have sat with the oligarchs who still pull these strings today. This isn’t theory. It isn’t speculation. It’s firsthand.
So what happens if Russia succeeds? Imagine a winter where families huddle in freezing apartments with no light, no heat, no gas. Imagine hospitals dark, surgeries canceled, soldiers on the front line unable to charge their radios or drones. The economy paralyzed. The defense broken. That is exactly what Russia is planning — not just to kill, but to paralyze. And that’s when Trump will appear, presenting himself as the savior, telling the world he can “end the war in one day” by imposing Putin’s terms.
My friends, this year may indeed be one of the most difficult winters in Ukraine’s history. And that is why we must stand with Ukraine now — why we must prepare together for what is coming.
I am not a reporter repeating headlines. I was inside the machine. I was sent to deliver these messages myself. I know these men, and I know what happens if they are not stopped. And let me say this clearly: the reason I risk everything to bring you the truth is because silence is not an option. If we stay silent, we lose everything — our freedom, our democracy, our future.
But in this darkness, there is hope. While the bombs are falling and Russia tries to break Ukraine’s spirit, Oleksandr from Voice from Ukraine is preparing to go into the hardest-hit areas of Dnipropetrovsk — right on the edge of the Donbas that Putin is trying to seize — to deliver the hygiene packages and essential aid, thanks to each and every one of you who has contributed. Some of that aid is already being delivered as we speak— to the front lines and to the hardest-hit hospitals where people need it the most.
Your generosity means that, even as Russia seeks to freeze Ukraine into submission, families are receiving supplies, soldiers are being supported, and people know they are not forgotten. From all of us at Voice from Ukraine, and from the people on the ground who feel your support in every package they open, thank you. Truly, thank you.
Now more than ever, I am asking — I am pleading with each and every one of you — go out there and spread this message, be my megaphone, share it far and wide, and be the extension of my voice.
And if you can, please support this work. I don’t have billionaires or media machines — I have you:

My mother survived Auschwitz. I’m thankful that she did not have to witness this, again.
My family survived McCarthyism. This feels like déjà vu. Roy Cohn was McCarthy’s trainer and handler. He later became Trump’s. See any similarities?…
