And China sits back patiently and laughs at the chaos.

Sadly no one else will be laughing. I've been thinking about this for ages since Lev's post. All of this is down to religious extremism. All religions.

Poor Taiwan. Poor Ukraine.Poor us. 2 hours ago Trump told reporters (NYT reporting) "Nobody knows what I'm going to do" regarding Iran. Because this demented, Russian asset tinpot dicktator doesn't have a clue. He has no idea WTF he is doing and no one to bring him to his senses. Those evangelical Christians who have taken over this country and brought him into power and Project 2025 are dangerous religious extremists who are truly living for their "Lord and saviour JC" to come down from his cloud and "save" these insane lunatics and bring them to heaven for "eternal life".Armegeddon.The 2nd coming. Whatever. I don't know. If I were a "god" why would I ever want to save cruel, violent, horrible gun-loving, murderous domestic and religious terrorists to poison heaven with the likes of Pete Hegseth, Joni Ernst or Markwayne Mullin and the rest of those hateful bigots?

China for the most part doesn't have that much religion. They just want world dominance and take over everybody so they better start teaching Mandarin in schools. I would not be too surprised when they turn their eyes to Russia who they share one of longest borders with only like 145 million people on the largest landmass/country with 11 time zones that have gas and oil and rich in minerals...even diamonds and gems..lots of natural resources they need. And savvy hackers. I wouldn't get too comfy Vlad, or whatever monster comes after you die. China is smarter and more disciplined. They make everything in the world. Elon Musk should know that by now. When he got into bed with China they owned Tesla, and now they stole his tech and make better and cheaper cars. Everyone needs them. They have like 1.5 .billion people and that doesn't include Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Anywhere in the world there is a vacuum and there they are. And with billions fleeing climate change and AI?. It will be a dystopian hell. Bye Russia. Sorry to hijack your comment John. It just got me thinking of the end game.

Hi John. Apropos. Today I read in the NYT China is HACKING Russia, their "friend" for their military secrets since they invaded Ukraine, so they can get all the info on "their weaponry and warfighting". I knew it.

An article I read, scary but true.

* A Time for Truth: Our Democracy Demands Sacrifice

My fellow Americans,

We stand at a precipice. The very foundation of our democracy, the principles that define us as a nation – freedom, justice, and the power of the people – are under siege. A regime has taken root that seeks to dismantle these ideals, to centralize power, and to silence the voices of ordinary Americans.

This is not a drill. This is not a partisan debate. This is a battle for the soul of our nation, and we, the American people, are the last line of defense.

To reclaim our democracy, we must face an uncomfortable truth: we must halt the engine that fuels this regime. We must, together, choose to disrupt the very systems it relies upon. This means a collective act of non-cooperation. It means temporarily stopping the flow of productivity that empowers those who seek to undermine us. It means, for a time, accepting financial pain.

I understand the gravity of these words. I know the fear and uncertainty that such a prospect evokes. Families will struggle. Businesses will face hardship. But I ask you: what is the cost of losing our democracy? What is the price of living under a system where our rights are eroded, our voices are silenced, and our future is dictated by a few? That cost, my friends, is far greater and far more enduring than any temporary economic pain we might endure.

Think of those who came before us – who risked everything, who shed blood and treasure, to establish and preserve this nation. They endured famine, war, and unimaginable sacrifice for the promise of a free society. Are we, in this generation, less capable of defending that legacy?

This is not about surrender. This is about strategic withdrawal of our energy and resources from a system that has become weaponized against us. By stopping our collective productivity, we starve the regime of its power. We deny it the resources it needs to perpetuate its control. We create an undeniable crisis that forces a reckoning.

This will be painful. There is no sugarcoating it. But we are a resilient people. We are ingenious. We will organize. We will support each other through community, through shared resources, and through the unbreakable bonds of our common purpose. We must prepare for this pain, knowing that it is the necessary path to a greater good.

The choice before us is stark: a brief, intense period of shared hardship for the promise of a free future, or a slow, agonizing slide into authoritarianism with consequences that will echo for generations.

Let us rise to this challenge. Let us stand together, united in our resolve. Let us choose freedom, no matter the cost. Our democracy, our future, depends on it.

God bless America.

I almost didn't read this because 1. I was already so frightened by the news + my understanding of these three psychopathic autocrats, plus the growing evidence of Trump's imminent collapse--Keeping in mind that a brute often escalates when he's cornered; 2. Because despite the No Kings rallies which I participated in, I have no idea how we're to act, NOW, in the face of possible war with unknowable implications.

Here's a piece of that, based upon the years I spent in Iran way back when: the city of Isfahan has a central square fronting some of the most beautiful Islamic architecture on the planet: the Blue Mosque, the Lady Mosque, and a lacelike palace dedicated to music and beauty so uniquely constructed that it ought by rights, to replace all other images of palaces in story books for kids. It also is surrounded by the last remnants of Iran's former religious understanding--Zoroastrianism, which posits an eternal struggle between good and evil and the importance of love in that struggle. These are the Towers of Silence upon which Zoroastrians reverently laid their dead for sacred birds to digest, speeding the remains return to the earth from which their elements belong, free of corruption and decay. These remnants of Medieval and more ancient civilization are treasures, and just thinking about their destruction makes me almost unbearably sad. Not to mention the loss of life. I used to visit an orchard near the city of Qom. The people there are simple, proud and incredibly hard-working, ekeing out a living in a harsh desert environment against all odds. That they and other innocents should be vaporized by the winds of war is beyond tears.

But I did read on, and I thank you for sharing your understanding with us.

Leigh, what a beautiful description of the legendary Isfahan. I always wanted to go and never quite got there. Is it true they destroyed the Lady Mosque and the Blue Mosque? That would be so tragic.

This is the best synopsis of what we face. Three very dangerous men working together to control the world. How to save what we hold dear when it seems they control the institutions of law and order. We need Congress and the courts back on track to push back against tyranny.

That’s what are my thoughts already since the start of this dirty dangerous game these persons are playing. Trump though is the worst… undoubtedly HE STARTED to give leverage to Putin and Netanyahu and could be the cause of a world war… THE WHOLE WORLD SHOULD BE WARNED… but which countries could stand this force??

By far the best analysis I have read. Key facts marshalled into penetrating analysis. Thankyou, Lev!

Modern progressive spirituality yields a parallel esoteric evaluation:

Trump is the weakest, because he is just a puppet, possessed by subhuman instinctual forces. These forces take over when the human ego fails to maintain cohesion and actually departs the body, leaving space for other demonic forces to take over. Think here of a similar phenomenon— hypnotism, and what humans can be impelled to do under its influence.

But puppet raises the spectre of the puppeteer. Who controls Trump? Who controls the subhuman demonic forces working through him? Lev has rightly pointed to Putin, asserting that Trump is in fact his student.

I think it goes further, though. Of the three men, Putin is undoubtedly the one exerting both control and pre-planning. It is in his eyes that we see a cold, cruel calculating intelligence. These qualities are hallmarks of an occult initiate following an egotistical path to absolute power, total control over others, and untold riches. This is the black path which works against positive future human evolution. It aims to destroy human society. Behind Putin, one can see the workings of the shadowy KGB and Stalin and an entire lineage of evil still alive and operating today. It was the same with Hitler and the SS.

In this connection, one can see Netanyahu as a cynical player on the fringes of this dark occult world. It seems probable that he doesn't fully comprehend the danger he is in from these ruthless forces. This also agrees with Lev's assessment of the man.

But it is in connection with Trump that I would like to add something to Lev's summary which I think is of primary importance. It seems there are homegrown dark forces pulling Trump's strings more directly than Putin—living occult initiates on the ground right now in the US. If this be true, it suggests we need to look more closely for the signs of those who stand behind the President, directing his movements. I would start with Miller and Project 25, and see what leads still further back behind them into the shadows.

I would like to know your thoughts on this, Lev. Does a more in-depth lineage of this type suggest itself to you?

Great post Penelope. I believe Trump was a puppet and the Trojan horse. I am loathe to use the word charisma in the traditional sense, but all dictators are charismatic and why people follow them. This is what the religious right have worked at for 50 years. Mitch McConnell. Leonard Leo. The Koch Bros. Infecting our judiciary and SCOTUS. Heritage Foundation. Citizens United allowing dark money in gov't. Rupert Murdoch and his poisonous Fox news and propoganda. Stephen Miller's hatred. Turning us against each other. JD Vance or Marco Rubio or any other "Repub" would have never gotten elected. Aside from Project 2025, and Putin it was the Silicon Valley tech bros billionaires and mixed in with religion. Peter Thiel bought JD Vance's senate seat. Elon Musk bought him the presidency for a power mad grifter who held the keys to the kingdom they needed. The power of the presidency, our money, and our military. . Look at Peter Thiel, Curtis Yarvin, Elon and Dark Enlightenment.Peter Thiel owns Planatir and they are the ones using all the info that Elon stole and building profiles on us. They are a cancer.
